Areas

To convert your data into a pivot table, you can drag data source fields into four areas in the Pivot Grid view of the SQL document. They are the following:

  • Filter area - displays a data source field as a Filter field.
  • Row area - displays a data source field as a Row field.

  • Column area - displays a data source field as a Column field.

  • Data area - displays values of the Data field that you dragged from the Data Source view, Total and Grand Total values that are automatically calculated after adding the fields to this area, and any [custom summary calculations]/studio-for-sql-server/data-analysis/using-summary-functions.html) you can select for the fields.
