Manipulating User Accounts

This topic tells you how to manipulate user accounts with dbForge Studio for Oracle Security Manager.

Security Manager provides an easy way to add, alter or remove users visually without typing SQL code. To open Security Manager, select Security Manager on the Database menu.

Creating User Account

  1. Open Security Manager.
  2. Select the Users node.
  3. Right-click the Users node and select New User on the shortcut menu.
  4. Fill in the Name, Password, and Confirm Password fields.
  5. Select authentication method, default and temporary tablespace and user profile in the corresponding boxes.
  6. Grant necessary roles and privileges to user.
  7. You can optionally set tablespaces quotas for user.
  8. Click the Save button on the Security Manager toolbar.

Editing User Account

You can edit user account by opening Security Manager, expanding the Users node and selecting the required user in the tree. After editing you should click the Save button on the Security Manager toolbar to apply changes. If you want to discard changes, click the Undo button on the Security Manager toolbar.

Deleting User Account

Open Security Manager, expand the Users node and select Delete on shortcut menu of required user or select required user in the tree and click the Delete button on the Security Manager toolbar or press the DELETE key.

Assigning Tablespace Quota for User Account

  1. Open Security Manager.
  2. Expand the Users node and select a required user.
  3. Switch to the Quota tab.
  4. Select the required tablespace.
  5. Select quota from the corresponding box - None, Unlimited or Value; if you have selected Value, enter the required value and select Unit of the entered value.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for all required tablespaces.
  7. Click the Save button on the Security Manager toolbar.
