Manipulating Roles

This topic tells you how to manipulate roles with dbForge Studio for Oracle Security Manager.

Security Manager provides an easy way to add, alter or remove roles visually without typing SQL code. To open Security Manager, select Security Manager on the Database menu.

Creating a Role

  1. Open Security Manager.
  2. Select the Roles node.
  3. Right-click the Roles node and select New Role on the shortcut menu.
  4. Fill in the Name field.
  5. Select authentication method. If you have selected the Database method, fill in the Password and Confirm Password fields.
  6. Grant necessary roles and privileges to role.
  7. Click the Save button on the Security Manager toolbar.

Editing a Role

You can edit role account by opening Security Manager, expanding Roles node and selecting required role in the tree. After editing you should click the Save button on the Security Manager toolbar to apply changes. If you want to discard changes, click the Undo button on the Security Manager toolbar.

Deleting a Role

Open the Security Manager, expand the Roles node and select Delete on the shortcut menu of the required role, or select a required role in the tree and press DELETE.
