Price Look-Up Code (PLU) generator

The Price Look-Up Code (PLU) generator produces unique numeric codes that are assigned to individual products, primarily in retail environments, such as supermarkets and grocery stores. PLU codes are used for identifying products quickly, especially those that are sold by weight or have a standardized price, such as fresh produce or bulk items.

The table provides key details about the generator, including the short name, sample of the generated data, the supported data types, and whether it is specific to a particular country.

Matching rules
The generator can be assigned to a column that matches any of the following rules:
- Any column that belongs to a table whose name starts with ‘PLU’ and ends with ‘codes’, with any or no characters in between.
- The column name ends with ‘code’, preceded by any or no characters, and it belongs to a table whose name starts with ‘PLU’, followed by any or no characters.
- The column name starts with ‘PLU’ and ends with ‘codes’, with any or no characters in between, regardless of the table name.
- The column name is ‘PLU’, regardless of the table name.
