Additional elements on a diagram

You can use additional elements to organize, explain, and improve the readability of database diagrams without affecting the actual database structure.

Supported elements

dbForge Studio lets you add containers, notes, stamps, and images to the diagram.

Element	Description	When to use
Containers	Group related objects, for example, tables or views, in the diagram to organize content visually.	Use to organize large diagrams into logical sections, for example, Sales or HR information, to improve readability and structure.
Notes	Provide additional information to explain diagram elements.	Use to document business rules or explain relationships.
Stamps	Provide predefined metadata fields such as author, company, version, copyright, project name, and date.	Use to add standardized information and metadata to diagrams.
Images	Add external images to the diagram.	Use to add visual context or logos.

Synchronize an object with Document Outline

You can use Document Outline to view the diagram structure or navigate diagram elements.

To display the newly created object in Document Outline, right-click an object or an empty area of the diagram and select Synchronize Document Outline. This option updates the outline view so it matches the current structure and content of the diagram.
