Viewing Source Control history

dbForge Source Control provides a Changes History document that helps do the following:

  • View the changes history for the entire database or separate database objects
  • View the details of each commit, including revision ID, date, author and comments
  • View a list of objects that were modified in each commit
  • View DDL differences for each object
  • Compare two revisions

The Changes History document is not available when your database is linked to a working folder.

To open the Changes History document

  1. In Object Explorer, right-click a required linked database or a database object.
  2. On the shortcut menu, point to Source Control and click View Changes History.

To compare two separate revisions, hold Ctrl and select the revisions from the list. The differences are highlighted with red:

You can update a database to any revision from version control as well as compare different revisions in version control using dbForge Schema Compare for SQL Server.
