Activation

Unless activated, dbForge Source Control works on a trial basis for 30 days. When the trial period expires, dbForge Source Control must be activated with a purchased activation key.

How to check how much time is left in a trial period?

To check for the expiry date of the trial version, in Object Explorer, right-click the database and select Source Control > Help > About. The window appears, showing the number of days left in the trial period.

To check the current status of the dbForge Source Control version you use

1. In Object Explorer, right-click the database to open the Source Control menu.

2. On the Source Control shortcut menu, select Help > About.

dbForge Source Control can be activated either online or offline.

Online activation

This activation method requires an active Internet connection.

To activate dbForge Source Control

1. In Object Explorer, right-click a database and point to Source Control.

2. On the Source Control shortcut menu, click Help > Activate Product.

3. The Product Activation window opens. You should input the long activation key from your email that was sent to you after the purchase, but not the license number in the format: XXXX-XXX-XXX.

Note

If you do not see the e-mail with the activation key, check your Junk/Spam/Bulk folders.

You can always retrieve your activation key in your Customer Portal.

4. To complete the product activation, click Activate.

Offline activation

Offline activation allows activating dbForge Source Control at the Devart website. This activation method helps activate the product when the online activation fails.

To activate dbForge Source Control offline

1. In the Product Activation window, click Manual Activation.

2. Click Copy to Clipboard to copy the activation request text or click Save to File to save the text to a text file.

3. Open the Manual Product Activation page of the Devart website and paste the copied text in the text box. Click Download license. The license file with the .lic extension is downloaded to your computer.

4. Return to the Product Activation window of dbForge Source Control and click Load License.

5. Specify the location of the downloaded .lic file and click Open.
