Creating Schema Snapshot

This topic describes how to create a schema snapshot file. Snapshot is a file generated by dbForge Fusion for SQL Server that contains an information about a database structure in XML format.

To create a new snapshot:

  1. After connecting to a required instance of the Microsoft SQL Server Database Engine, in Database Explorer, click the server name to expand the server tree.

  2. Either select a user database or expand the System Databases folder and select a system database.

  3. Right-click the database, point to Tasks, and then click Create Schema Snapshot.

  4. Optionally, you can change a *. snap file name.

  5. Optionally, you can change the file location. You can store the file in a repository. To do this, select the Version Control radio button.

  6. Optionally, you can add a comment to the *. snap file.

  7. Optionally, you can select the Compress checkbox to archive the created file.

  8. Optionally, you can either select or clear the Decrypt encrypted objects option.

  9. Click Create.
