Prior to running Setup to install the dotConnect for Oracle, you must already have the .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7, or 4.8 installed on the computer. If the .NET Framework is not installed, the Setup program for the provider will fail.

To use full set of Oracle features you have to have Oracle Client software installed. If you do not want to install it, you can use Direct mode, in which dotConnect for Oracle communicates with Oracle server without intermediate libraries. In order to use the Direct mode, the operating system must have TCP/IP protocol support installed. For more information about using Direct mode, refer to Using Direct Mode article.
