Devart.Data.Dynamics Namespace / DynamicsCommand Class
Members Example

DynamicsCommand Class
Represents a SQL statement or stored procedure to execute against Dynamics 365.
Syntax
Remarks
The DynamicsCommand class provides the following methods for executing commands against Dynamics 365:
Item Description
ExecuteReader Executes commands that return rows.
Devart.Common.DbCommandBase.ExecutePageReader Returns a specific subset of rows when paging through the results of a query.
ExecuteNonQuery Executes SQL commands such as INSERT, DELETE, UPDATE.
ExecuteScalar Retrieves a single value (for example, an aggregate value) from a data source.

If execution of the command results in a fatal DynamicsException, the DynamicsConnection may close. However, the user can reopen the connection and continue.

Example
The following example uses the ExecuteReader method of DynamicsCommand, along with DynamicsDataReader and DynamicsConnection, to select rows from a table.
public void ReadMyData(string myConnString)
{
  string mySelectQuery = "SELECT contactid, lastname FROM contact";
  DynamicsConnection dynamicsConnection = new DynamicsConnection(myConnString);
  DynamicsCommand dynamicsCommand = new DynamicsCommand(mySelectQuery,dynamicsConnection);
  dynamicsConnection.Open();
  DynamicsDataReader dynamicsReader = dynamicsCommand.ExecuteReader();
  try
  {
    while (dynamicsReader.Read())
    {
      Console.WriteLine(dynamicsReader.GetGuid(0).ToString() + ", " + dynamicsReader.GetString(1));
    }
  }
  finally
  {
  // always call Close when done reading.
  dynamicsReader.Close();
  // always call Close when done reading.
  dynamicsConnection.Close();
  }
}
Public Sub ReadMyData(myConnString As String)
  Dim mySelectQuery As String = "SELECT contactid, lastname FROM contact"
  Dim dynamicsConnection As New DynamicsConnection(myConnString)
  Dim dynamicsCommand As New DynamicsCommand(mySelectQuery, dynamicsConnection)
  dynamicsConnection.Open()
  Dim dynamicsReader As DynamicsDataReader = dynamicsCommand.ExecuteReader()
  Try
    While dynamicsReader.Read()
      Console.WriteLine(dynamicsReader.GetGuid(0).ToString() + ", " _
        + dynamicsReader.GetString(1))
    End While
  Finally
      ' always call Close when done reading.
      dynamicsReader.Close()
      ' always call Close when done with connection.
      dynamicsConnection.Close()
  End Try
End Sub
