Country generator

Last modified: April 3, 2025

The Country generator creates synthetic data related to countries. It can create country names, country codes (ISO 3166-1), currency codes, country phone calling codes, and other country-specific information. This generator is usually used in testing, data simulation, or development scenarios where realistic country-related data is needed, such as for populating databases, validating applications, or generating sample records for international systems.

Generator properties

The table provides key details about the generator, including the short name, sample of the generated data, the supported data types, and whether it is specific to a particular country.

Matching rules

The generator can be assigned to a column that matches any of the following rules:

  • The column name contains ‘Country’, preceded or followed by any or no characters, regardless of the table name.
  • The column name contains ‘Addr’, preceded or followed by any or no characters, and ends with ‘3’, ‘4’, ‘5’, or ‘6’, regardless of the table name.
  • The column name contains ‘Country’ or ‘Countries’, preceded or followed by any or no characters, and it belongs to a table whose name is ‘Name’.

Configure additional options

The generator produces data based on a regular expression. Since it is built on the RegExp generator, see Regular Expression generator to customize settings and understand the correct usage of syntax.

The Text box displays a .csv file that contains a list of country codes. The default path to the file is C:\Users\Public\Documents\Devart\dbForge Studio for PostgreSQL\Data Generators\CountryCodes.csv[0].
