The MAC Address (IEEE 802) generator creates randomized Media Access Control (MAC) addresses, which are unique identifiers assigned to network interfaces. This generator is helpful for testing scenarios where unique device identification or address validation plays a critical role in system functionality.
The table provides key details about the generator, including the short name, sample of the generated data, the supported data types, and whether it is specific to a particular country.
| Short name | Example of generated data | Data type matching | Country-specific |
|---|---|---|---|
| MAC Address | ce:15:a2:16:e5:40, A1-EE-AA-CA-FC-93, 2e-bf-f6-fc-3e-ba, 1B:EB:A2:43:D3:7A… | character varying character text macaddr |

The generator can be assigned to a column whose name starts with ‘MAC’ and ends with ‘Address’ or ‘Addr’, with any or no characters in between, regardless of the table name.
The generator produces data based on a regular expression. Since it is built on the RegExp generator, see Regular Expression generator to customize settings and understand the correct usage of syntax.
