UK Stock Exchange Daily Official List Number (SEDOL) generator

The UK Stock Exchange Daily Official List Number (SEDOL) generator creates unique 7-character alphanumeric identifiers assigned to securities traded on the UK stock market. These identifiers are used to uniquely identify financial instruments and facilitate trading, settlement, and reporting in the UK and international markets.

Note

If you select United Kingdom from the Country-specific data list on the Options page of the Data Generator Project Properties wizard, the UK Stock Exchange Daily Official List Number (SEDOL) generator will be applied to columns that meet the matching rules, replacing the default (United States) generator.

The table provides key details about the generator, including the short name, sample of the generated data, the supported data types, and whether it is specific to a particular country.

Matching rules

The generator can be assigned to a column whose name is ‘SEDOL’, regardless of the table name.

Configure additional options

The tool allows you to specify a separator between groups of digits. By default, a hyphen is used to separate the digits.
