UK Standard Industrial Classification Code Title (UK SIC) generator

The UK Standard Industrial Classification Code Title (UK SIC) generator creates descriptive titles associated with UK SIC codes. These titles provide a clear, standardized description of the economic activities or industries represented by the codes, helping to classify businesses for regulatory, statistical, and reporting purposes.

Note

If you select United Kingdom from the Country-specific data list on the Options page of the Data Generator Project Properties wizard, the UK Standard Industrial Classification Code Title (UK SIC) generator will be applied to columns that meet the matching rules, replacing the default (United States) generator.

Generator properties

The table provides key details about the generator, including the short name, example of the generated data, the supported data types, and whether it is specific to a particular country.

Matching rules

The generator can be assigned to a column that matches any of the following rules:

• The column name starts with ‘UK’ or ‘GB’ and ends with ‘sic’, with any or no characters in between, regardless of the table name.
• The column name starts with ‘industry’ or ‘SIC’ and ends with ‘code’, with any or no characters in between, regardless of the table name.

Configure additional options

The generator produces data based on a regular expression. Since it is built on the RegExp generator, see Regular Expression generator to customize settings and understand the correct usage of syntax.

The Text box displays a .csv file with the list of default UK SIC codes and titles. The default path to the file is C:\Users\Public\Documents\Devart\dbForge Studio for PostgreSQL\Data Generators\UKSICCodes.csv.
