Note
Before you start to upgrade dbForge SQL Complete, close SSMS and all running instances of dbForge SQL Complete, except for the one being upgraded.
You can use the Check for Updates option to see whether a new dbForge SQL Complete version is available and download it if needed. You can also update dbForge SQL Complete manually from the Devart website.
The Check for Updates option checks whether a new version of dbForge SQL Complete is available. If a newer version is found, the dialog opens prompting you to download it.
To check for updates:
1. On the menu bar, select SQL Complete > Help > Check for Updates.
The dialog notifying you that a new version is available opens.
Note
If no updates are available, the following message appears:
No update is required, you have the latest product version.
Tip
To get information about the new version of dbForge SQL Complete, click What’s New. On the download page that opens, click Revision history.
To postpone the update and receive another notification later, click Ask Later.
2. Click Download.
A notification appears indicating that the new version has been downloaded and is ready to install.
3. Click Update.
4. Click Yes to run the installer.
5. Click Install.
6. On the Maintenance page, the Upgrade option is selected by default. Click Next.
7. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.
8. Click Finish to close the wizard.
To upgrade to the latest version from the Devart website:
1. Download the new version of dbForge SQL Complete.
2. Run the installer and follow the instructions.
3. Click Finish.
You can upgrade SQL Complete to be compatible with a newer version of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) or Visual Studio (VS).
Note
When you upgrade to a newer version, all the settings will be preserved.
To upgrade to use with a new SSMS version:
1. Download dbForge SQL Complete to the computer where SSMS or VS is installed.
2. Run the sqlcompletesql.exe file to start the installation process.
3. On the welcome page of the installer that opens, click Install.
4. On the Maintenance page, click Next.
5. On the Add-In page, select the checkboxes for the products in which you want to install dbForge SQL Complete as an add-in and click Next.
Note
The checkboxes displayed on this page depend on the versions of SSMS and Visual Studio installed on the computer where dbForge SQL Complete is being upgraded.
6. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.
7. Click Finish.
