Exclude objects from schema synchronization

After you run a schema comparison, the results are displayed in the comparison grid. From this grid, you can exclude all objects or selected groups of objects from schema synchronization.

In the comparison results grid:

The selection column (with checkboxes) controls whether an object is included in synchronization.
The operation column shows the action that is applied to the target object.

Exclude all objects

You can use one of the following methods to exclude all objects from synchronization.

Use the column header checkbox

Select the checkbox in the header of the selection column.

All objects in the grid are cleared from selection and excluded from synchronization, regardless of their assigned operation.

To include all objects again, select the header checkbox.

Select all objects and clear any checkbox

1. Expand all object groups in the grid.

2. Press Ctrl+A to select all objects.

3. Clear the checkbox next to any selected object.

All selected objects are excluded from synchronization.

Note

Objects in collapsed groups are not selected when you press Ctrl+A and remain included in synchronization.

1. Expand all object groups in the grid.

2. Press Ctrl+A to select all objects.

3. Right-click the selection and select Exclude Selected Objects.

To include the objects again, select Include Selected Objects.

Exclude objects using the filter

Clear checkboxes individually

Clear the checkbox next to the object you want to exclude from synchronization.

Note

Use this method only when you need to exclude a small number of objects.

Exclude a group of objects

Use one of the following methods to exclude a group of objects.

Use the Objects Filter

1. On the Comparison toolbar, click Objects Filter.

2. Select the checkboxes for the required groups of objects.

The grid displays only the objects that match your selection.

3. In the grid, clear the checkbox in the header of the selection column.

All displayed objects are excluded from synchronization.

Select multiple objects and clear any checkbox

1. Select the required objects holding Ctrl or Shift.

2. Clear the checkbox next to any selected object.

All selected objects are excluded from synchronization.

To include them again, select any checkbox in the selection.

1. Select the required objects holding Ctrl or Shift.

2. Right-click the selection and select Exclude Selected Objects.

To include the objects again, select Include Selected Objects.

Filter objects by name

Use this method when object names share a common pattern.

1. In the grid header, enter the search query in the Filter box.

The grid displays the objects that contain the search query in their names.

2. Clear the checkbox in the column header.

All displayed objects are excluded from synchronization.

Exclude objects using the filter

Group objects by status, object type, or operation

Use this method to exclude objects that share the same status, object type, or operation.

1. On the Comparison toolbar, in the Group by field, select the required option.

The grid groups objects based on the selected option.

2. Select the checkbox in the column header for the required group of objects.

All objects in the group are excluded from synchronization.

Filter objects by status

Note

You can combine grouping and filtering to refine the selection. For example, group objects by status, such as Only in Source, Only in Target, or Different, and then enter a value in the Filter box to further filter objects by name.
