Group Policy is a Microsoft Windows feature that enables centralized management and configuration of operating systems, applications, and user settings in an Active Directory (AD) environment. It allows administrators to define policies and enforce them on user accounts and computers within a domain.
You can use Group Policy to deploy software to multiple client machines in a domain. Using an MSI file and an MST file containing license information, you can install ODBC Driver for Salesforce.
Benefits of Group Policy installation
Use Orca to generate an MST file with the required license information and custom settings for ODBC Driver for Salesforce.
2. Install and activate the driver remotely.
Place the MSI and MST files in a shared network folder. Configure a Group Policy Object (GPO) to deploy the driver using the Software Installation policy. Add the MST file in the package’s Modifications tab to include license details.
3. Update the driver using Group Policy.
To update the driver, replace the MSI file in the shared folder with the new version. Update the GPO to include the new package and MST file by configuring the Upgrades and Modifications tabs.
