Devart.Data.Salesforce Namespace / SalesforceConnection Class / Open Method
Example

In This Topic
    Open Method (SalesforceConnection)
    In This Topic
    Opens a Salesforce.com or Database.com connection with the property settings specified by the ConnectionString.
    Syntax
    'Declaration

    Public Overrides Sub Open()
    public override void Open()
    Remarks
    The SalesforceConnection draws an open connection from the connection pool if one is available. Otherwise, it establishes a new connection to the data source.

    Note: If the SalesforceConnection goes out of scope, the connection it represents does not close automatically. Therefore, you must explicitly close the connection by calling Close.

    Opening an open connection does nothing.

    Example
    The following example creates a SalesforceConnection, opens it, displays some of its properties, and then closes the connection.
    public void CreateSalesforceConnection(string myConnString)
    {
      SalesforceConnection salesforceConnection = new SalesforceConnection(myConnString);
      salesforceConnection.Open();
      MessageBox.Show("ServerVersion: " + salesforceConnection.ServerVersion
        + "\nState: " + salesforceConnection.State.ToString());
      salesforceConnection.Close();
    }
    Public Sub CreateSalesforceConnection(myConnString As String)
      Dim salesforceConnection As New SalesforceConnection(myConnString)
      salesforceConnection.Open()
      MessageBox.Show("ServerVersion: " + salesforceConnection.ServerVersion _
        + ControlChars.Cr + "State: " + salesforceConnection.State.ToString())
      salesforceConnection.Close()
    End Sub
