dotConnect for Dynamics 365 Documentation
Devart.Data.Dynamics Namespace / DynamicsConnection Class / Open Method
Example

Open Method (DynamicsConnection)
Opens a Dynamics 365 connection with the property settings specified by the ConnectionString.
Syntax
'Declaration

Public Overrides Sub Open()

Remarks
The DynamicsConnection draws an open connection from the connection pool if one is available. Otherwise, it establishes a new connection to the data source.

Note: If the DynamicsConnection goes out of scope, the connection it represents does not close automatically. Therefore, you must explicitly close the connection by calling Devart.Common.DbConnectionBase.Close.

Opening an open connection does nothing.

Example
The following example creates a DynamicsConnection, opens it, displays some of its properties, and then closes the connection.
public void CreateDynamicsConnection(string myConnString)
{
  DynamicsConnection dynamicsConnection = new DynamicsConnection(myConnString);
  dynamicsConnection.Open();
  MessageBox.Show("ServerVersion: " + dynamicsConnection.ServerVersion
    + "\nState: " + dynamicsConnection.State.ToString());
  dynamicsConnection.Close();
}
Public Sub CreateDynamicsConnection(myConnString As String)
  Dim dynamicsConnection As New DynamicsConnection(myConnString)
  dynamicsConnection.Open()
  MessageBox.Show("ServerVersion: " + dynamicsConnection.ServerVersion _
    + ControlChars.Cr + "State: " + dynamicsConnection.State.ToString())
  dynamicsConnection.Close()
End Sub
