Managing Database Connections

dbForge Documenter for Oracle offers you visual, quick, and simple way to manage database connections through the Connection Manager window.

Create a database connection

  1. Open the Database Connection Properties dialog box by one of the following ways:

    • On the Database menu, click New Connection iconNew Connection.

    -or-

    • On the Database menu, click Connection Manager and then click New in the Connection Manager dialog box.
  2. In the Database Connection Properties dialog box that opens, set up connection parameters.

  3. To finish creating the connection, click OK or click Test Connection to find out whether the connection with such parameters exists.

Windows connection coloring

Windows connection coloring allows you immediately to know which server you are connected to. You can add coloring for each server connection in the Document Category field of the Database Connection Properties dialog box when setting the database connection properties.

Edit a database connection

To edit a database connection, follow the steps:

  1. On the Database menu, click Connection Manager.
  2. In the Connection Manager dialog box that opens, select a required connection and then click Edit.
  3. In the Database Connection Properties dialog box that opens, make changes to database connection parameters.

Delete a database connection

To delete a database connection, follow the steps:

  1. On the Database menu, open the Connection Manager.
  2. Choose a connection you want to delete and then click Delete.
