Connecting to Database

Create New Server Connection

To create a server connection, perform the following actions:

  1. On the Start Page click New Data Comparison. The New Data Comparison wizard opens.

  2. Click New to create source and target connections.

  3. The Database Connection Properties window will open.

  4. Enter the host name in the Host box.

  5. Enter the port information in the Port box. Default port number is 3306.

  6. Enter the login credentials in the User and Password fields.

  7. In Database, type or select the name of the database to which you want to connect.

  8. The Connection Name should be generated automatically from the Host name. You can create a distinctive name for your new connection.

  9. (optional) You can assign a category for a new connection in the Document Category box.

  10. (optional) You can click Advanced to configure advanced connection properties.

  11. (optional) You can click Security to configure security properties. For example, you can set up either SSL or SSH security properties.

  12. (optional) You can click HTTP to configure HTTP tunnel properties.

  13. (optional) You can click Test Connection to verify that you can connect to the database by using the specified connection information.

  14. Click OK to create the connection.

Alternative ways to access the Database Connection Properties window:

  1. In the Database menu, click New Connection.

  2. Click the New Connection button on the Connection toolbar.

Note:

The Connection toolbar is hidden by default. To unhide it, right-click the menu bar and choose Connection.

Edit and delete connections

You can create, edit, and delete connections with the help of Connection Manager. To open it, click Edit on the Source and Target page of the New Data Comparison wizard or click the Connection Manager button on the Database menu.

To edit a connection, select it in the Connections list and click the Edit* button or just double-click it in the list. The **Database Connection Properties window will open.

To delete a connection, select it in the Connections list and click the Delete button or press the DELETE key.

You also can use the New button to create new connections.

Windows connection coloring

Windows connection coloring allows you immediately know to which sever you are connected to. You can add coloring for each server connection.
